History of Millsboro

Millsboro was established around 1792 by a person named Elisha Dickerson. While Indians were the original residents of the town, most of them moved on when Englishmen began to settle in the area. During these early days, Millsboro was largely a mill town that boasted more than 15 grist and saw mills. This is how the town got its name. However, as the town grew and the railroad laid tracks through the area, more businesses made their homes in Millsboro. Today there is a wide array of businesses in the area that range from sales and office positions to factory work and farming. Nevertheless, even with all of the changes that Millsboro has gone through, the town still maintains its rural charm and beauty.
